5 Tips To Fight Dry, Winter Skin

5 Tips To Fight Dry Winter Skin

The Winter Season is upon us and with the cooler weather, our skin can start to feel dry and parched. Even indoors, many heating systems produce a dry heat that reduces the humidity in the air, making our skin feel dry as well. As a result, it becomes more and more important to give our skin some extra TLC to combat the dryness.

For many of us, even those of us with naturally oily skin, keeping our skin healthy can be challenging in the winter. No need to fret, though, apply these 5 tips and your skin will be well on its way to it's healthy glow again.

TIP #1 - Drink Lots of Water

This may seem like a no-brainer, but it's sometimes harder to keep up with drinking more water in the winter time because the weather is cooler and we don't get thirsty as often. Water nourishes the body from the inside-out, giving your skin that much needed hydration.

TIP #2 - Hydrate with Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic Acid is a naturally-occurring mineral that holds up to 1000 times its weight in moisture. Our skin produces it naturally, but as we age our skin loses Hyaluronic Acid. That's one of the reasons why our skin gets drier and less plump as we age. Topical products with Hyaluronic Acid, such as our Bloom Beautifully Vitamin C + Hyaluronic Acid Super Serum, work wonders for adding that deep hydration back into the skin and come in super handy in the winter time. Tip - Use your Vitamin C Serum on chapped lips as well.

TIP #3 - Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize

Yes, yes, yes, moisturizing daily is key but it's important to seek out moisturizers that don't simply sit on the surface of your skin. When your skin is dry you need moisturizers that penetrate the epidermis to combat further issues such as cracked skin. Moisturizers with aloe and natural butters do the trick. Our Turmeric + Aloe Moisturizing Treatment goes the extra mile and tackles redness and inflammation in addition to soothing and moisturizing in the winter time.

TIP #4 - Moisturize your lips and eyes

Don't forget your lips and eyes when moisturizing. Your lips and eyes are thin-skinned and need some extra TLC. The skin around your eyes and lips has fewer sweat glands and can be more quickly susceptible to the reduced humidity in the winter time. Those crows feet and laugh lines can get deeper and lips can get chapped, cracked and sometimes, even bleed. Our Apple Rose Beauty products are extremely versatile and many of our customers use the Bloom Beautifully Vitamin C Serum around the eyes and use it as well as the Turmeric + Aloe Moisturizing Treatment on their lips. Both products are in our Moisture-Rich Bundle.

TIP #5 - Use a Humidifier

Lower humidity is the source of many of our winter skin woes. Adding a humidifier to infuse moisture into your living space can help alleviate some of the effects, at least while you're indoors. Many office and bedroom humidifiers are now filter-free and soundless so you can now treat the air in your home to more moisture without disturbing the peace.

These easy-to-incorporate tips can be life-savers when it comes to keeping your skin hydrated, moisturized and healthy this winter. What would you add to the list?
