Are Spa Treatments Worth it? | DIY at home spa

Spa's and Skincare Clinics are growing in popularity as people especially women are aiming to get better looking skin. Women spend billions of dollars a year on skincare but are facial treatments really worth it?

Depending on your skin condition, if you've ever visited a dermatologist then they may have suggested a chemical peel or steaming facial treatment. I believe in order to achieve the best skin you have to take care of it from the inside out. Spa treatments and facials can be beneficial and actually make your products work better and deeper penetrate the skin.

However, they can be quite expensive especially if done on a regular basis. If you want the spa results without going to an actual skin care spa, here are some tips on how to create a spa treatment experience at home.

Set the mood. Most spa's you go to have candles or incense burning to build a beautifully relaxing atmosphere. Aromatherapy is very effective at calming the nerves and preparing your body for any type of treatment. Try soothing herbs and scents such as eucalyptus, lavender, and chamomile. Or just light your favorite smelling candle.

Take a bubble bath. Baths aren't only for cleansing purposes but also to relax, this is why most spas have a sauna or jacuzzi.  Soaking in a nice bath with candles lit just puts you in the mood to really pamper yourself. Try adding bath salts and essential oils to give your skin a gentle treatment.

Listen to music. As with the aromatherapy most spas also have relaxing music playing in the background. I have a playlist dedicated to meditation and relaxation. This includes the sounds of nature like waterfalls or trees blowing through the wind. Many music apps like Spotify, Napster, or Apple music have playlists dedicated to relaxation.

Invest in a steamer. I talked about this in a previous blog post on how beneficial steaming is to the face. This is a staple in spa facials as it opens the pores up for deeper cleaning and treatment of the skin. You can buy a fairly inexpensive facial steamer on Amazon. You can steam your face up to twice a week. Try steaming your face and applying a mask before hopping in the bath.

Use a facial mask or scrub. Our Charcoal + Hibiscus Exfoliating mask is the perfect treatment for an at home spa experience. I recommend using the facial steamer after cleansing the face with the Nourish Naturally Cleanser. Then apply the mask and soak in the tub or listen to some soothing music while the mask does its magic.

P.S. Don't forget all orders placed online this month, January 2019, will ship with a free trial size of our new Charcoal + Hibiscus Exfoliating Mask.
